Favorite sign of spring: redwing blackbirds

They're back! Today's wonderful sound: the trill of the red-winged blackbirds. The green fuse is igniting. But first, we have to get through another couple of days of rain. We're under a heavy rainfall warning - again.

Thanks to dobak at flickr for bird photo.

Yvonne, I also heard and then saw the first Red-winged this spring today as I was outside just as the rain started. I ,too, love their call. We have lots of them around here all during spring and summer. I love watching them sitting on a tall stem in the hay field.

Thanks gals. Always appreciate your comments. Winter and spring are still battling it out, but we know which one is gonna win!

Beautiful photo, Yvonne. I took the liberty of including a link to this post with the others you contributed for the Design Workshop over at Gardening Gone Wild (it'll appear in the wrap-up post on March 30). Thanks for sharing your garden with us!
