Some critter decided that today was garbage day. Time to rid the nest of all the debris of those Gourmet Escargots. I have my dog Toby to thank for finding this little scene in our garden, and drawing my attention to it. It seems that we have pretty good help in battling snails and slugs.

Yvonne! What a striking tableau. But I'm wondering about the little hole in the middle—could it be a bolt-hole for escapee escargot? Or maybe Toby just got his nose in there...
I think it's voles, or some kind of field mouse.
